Leserbilder Astronomie: Comet PanSTARRS departs
Comet C/2013 X1 (PANSTARRS) was visible with binoculars a few months ago. Imaged here on August 26th, 2016, when is definitively moving out from inside the Solar System losing its brightness fast. In spite of that this image was taken with a high sensibility remote equipment from Siding Spring Observatories complex in Australia, it achieves to show its faint dust trail extending with one degree long (as two full moons) departing from its head tinted green due to emission of carbonic gas.
Aside from several tiny galaxies scattered by the field, at right bottom highlights the galaxy NGC 5556 type spiral barred that was discovered by John Herschel in 1834.
