Leserbilder Astronomie: MarSai-1, SNR G150.3+4.5 AND LDN 1400
Inspired by the discovery made by Nicolas Martino Yann Sainty, Michele Russo and I decided to shoot this fantastic region of the sky located in the constellation of Camelopardilis. As beautiful as it is rarely photographed, the discoverers have seen clearly! Located near the star CI Camelopardalis, LDN 1400 is a vast region, which also includes the dark nebulae Barnard 8-9, 11 and 13, which hides the SNR object G150.3+4.5, aka "Thor's Lightning". This region, in addition to the dark nebulae, is characterized by a beautiful and very weak arm of ionized oxygen, all on a "background" of ionized hydrogen emitting in H-alpha. As reported by the object's discoverers: "A previously unknown nova envelope is located around the star CI Camelopardalis, a very high-mass X-ray binary system. The object is located in the vicinity of the OIII filaments of the afterglow of the G150 supernova .3+4.5 but the bipolar envelope of CI Cam is a self-contained, isolated object located in the background of G150.3+4.5. The last known explosion of this system occurred in 1998 and has been the subject of numerous studies and publications in subsequent years.
We discovered a much older envelope around the star, which, according to current calculations, is between 1500 and 2200 years old.
