Leserbilder Astronomie: Messier 63, Sunflower Galaxy
Messier 63, also known as the Sunflower Galaxy is a type spiral galaxy located in 37 million lightyears away in the constellation of the "Hunting dogs" (Canes Venatici). It was discovered by Pierre Méchain on 1779 and consists of a small central disc surrounded by many segments of spiral arms. Several faint galaxies appear scattered in the field.
