Theodore Millon, Pionier der modernen Persönlichkeitsforschung, liebt unorthodoxe Methoden. Für seine Arbeit verbringt er auch mal ein Wochenende als Patient in einer Psychiatrie.
An einem Sonntagmorgen des Jahres 1963 erwachte Theodore Millon in der psychiatrischen Abteilung eines Krankenhauses in Pennsylvania. Er lag mit über 30 weiteren Patienten in einem Schlafsaal. Einer von ihnen hielt sich für Jesus Christus, ein anderer glaubte, er sei der Papst, der Nächste behauptete, er sei eigentlich Vorstandschef eines großen Konzerns und nur versehentlich in der Psychiatrie gelandet. Theodore Millon schaute an sich herab: »Ich trage ein Krankenhemd wie alle anderen Patienten auch. Bin ich wirklich ein Psychologieprofessor? Oder bilde ich mir das nur ein?« ...
